This piece was inspired by Koizumi Kyoko’s comment: “A mountain was moved by many stones that were thrown at it,” which was referring to an online protest that changed the course of a political debate. My hope was that this piece would be a noisy mixture of my work with GROUND-ZERO, my jazz band, and the Bon-Odori dance that I started after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake disaster. To achieve this, I conducted the group between composition and improvisation. Additionally, one of my favorite saxophonists, Chris Pitsiokos, participated all the way from New York with a lot of energy – thank you!
